Praia Internacional is an urban beach, across the road from Parque da Cidade, rimmed by a wide strand that is the setting for a variety of outdoor sports, filled with activity into the small hours. Praia Internacional is the ideal spot to surf, with plenty of surf schools to choose from.


Amateur sport, closely linked to the university, rugby is played by several clubs representing the city at all levels of the competition.

FC PORTO is the largest club in the city – it represents the all region, an attitude and the nation. It took part in 20 out of the 23 editions of the UEFA Champions League, winning it in 2004.


The paddle is a recent modality in Portugal, began to play itself in the decade of 90, with the constriction of the first field in Lisbon. Today Porto has many clubs where you can practice this modality. See here >
